Water in the past
Topic that students work on is related to water in literature and arts. Together with teachers, they identify folk tales, stories and poems in which water is used as a symbol.
They make paintings in which they illustrate water. Students analyse literary texts and folk tales and discuss the symbolism of water.
They also attend lessons about the importance of water for our ancestors – exploration, commerce, source of food, industry, war. They do research about the importance of water for their nation throughout history.
Water and health
Students analyse water drinking habits, identify benefits of water for health, attend biology lessons about importance of water for body.
They create posters to encourage people to drink water, visit water sports facilities in the host country and participate in PE lessons.
Students survey peers about practising water sports and create a local water consumption report.
They also identify local water sports facilities and create maps
The Science of water
Students attend lessons of geography, science and Maths in relation to water.
During Geography, they learn about the different sources of water and they make hydro-maps. During the Science class, they observe experiments with water.
During the Maths class, they calculate the amount of water that is consumed annually at the level of the partner schools, based on the survey results.
Students go on field trips, take samples of water from the nearby lakes, rivers and analyse their quality with the aid of special equipment or in collaboration with specialized institutions.
They summarise the findings in reports.
Water and the future
Students attend interactive lesson about causes and effects of pollution. They watch films about the threats of water waste and discuss the possible measures to take in order to stop this phenomenon.
They learn to organize a local campaign from an NGO specialist and work in teams to apply what they learn. After these activities all schools organize a Water Day in the school, where they apply the campaign.
Then, the partners think about ways to make the schools more water-friendly and come up with a plan for this.
Making our schools sustainable water consumers
During activity teachers meet to present the plans. The host invites representatives of local authorities to present the final plan and turn into a local policy.
After, all partners address local authorities for this purpose. At the end of the project, we make the final evaluation
